October 2004 Feature of the Month

Block Twills

The background for this month's web pages is an eight harness twill weave pattern which is suitable for scarves or linens of many kinds. By framing the larger twill sections with narrower bands in a contrasting direction, contrast is formed by the direction of the twill. This contrast may be enhanced by using a different warp color from weft color. You may also easily adjust the number of repeats in each section to create a proportion that is pleasing for your application. Experiment with closely related hues, with contrasting values, or with variegated warp.
